Lacrosse, considered to be the oldest American sport, was invented by the North American Indian, christened by the French, and developed by the Canadians (lacrosse is the national sport of Canada). Dubbed “the fastest game on two feet,” the sport of lacrosse is a combination of basketball, soccer and hockey. Anyone can play lacrosse, regardless of physical size. The game requires and rewards coordination and agility, not brawn. Quickness and speed are two highly prized qualities in lacrosse.
An exhilarating sport, lacrosse is fast-paced and full of action. Long sprints up and down the field with abrupt starts and stops, precision passes and dodges are routine in men's and women's lacrosse. Lacrosse is played with a stick, the crosse, which must be mastered by the player to throw, catch, cradle, and scoop the ball.
The rules, techniques, and tactics are significantly different between men’s and women’s lacrosse. Therefore, Capital is offering separate clinics for both boys and girls.
Participants in our clinics will require several pieces of equipment:
- Helmet, lacrosse stick, shoulder pads, gloves, mouth guard (Goaltenders: chest protector and shinguards
