Central Vermont’s leading soccer education program blazes the trail with another new program. Since 1999, when Capital Soccer started its first youth clinics, the Capital programs expand planning and training opportunities. This year, Capital proudly announces the addition of lacrosse to our outstanding line-up of athletic programs, offering players an opportunity to experience high-level coaching in a fun and passionate environment for this up-and-coming sport. Capital Lacrosse will provide the same fun, challenging, supportive environment that our soccer players enjoy.
An exhilarating sport, lacrosse maintains a fast-pace and full action. Long sprints up and down the field with abrupt starts and stops, precision passes and dodges represent routine play in men's and women's lacrosse. Players must master action with the crosse (a netted stick) - to throw, catch, cradle, and scoop the ball.
Our players will receive expert instruction on basic techniques including:
- Individual Stick Skills
- Offensive Skills
- Defensive Skills
- Filed Position Specific Skills
- Game Tactics
- Rules of the Game
Our Day Camp offers quality-training opportunities for beginner, intermediate, and advanced players.
A typical day's schedule will include:
- 1:00 PM - Warm-up game
- 1:20 PM - Individual Skill development
- 1:40 PM - Position specific and team skills
- 2:10 PM - Break
- 2:15 PM - Live game situations (small field and full field scrimmages)
The rules, techniques, and tactics are significantly different between men’s and women’s lacrosse. Therefore, Capital is offering separate clinics for both boys and girls.
Participants in our clinics will require several pieces of equipment:
- Boys: Helmet, lacrosse stick, shoulder pads, gloves, mouth guard (Goaltenders: chest protector and shinguards
- Girls: Headgear, lacrosse stick, mouth guard
