Session 3 Strength and Conditioning

Capital Soccer is pleased to announce Session 3 of our new strength and conditioning program to be held at the Central Vermont Memorial Civic Center.  Session 3 will be open to players in the 2007 age groups and older. Beginning the week of Monday, March 5th players will have the opportunity to train in a structured, developmentally age appropriate environment, with an emphasis on the following skills:

·Injury prevention (Ankle, Knee, Hip)

· Foot Speed/Coordination

· Agility

· Introduction to “Ground based” strength training

· Metabolic preparation for the outdoor season

Training Times:  Training times are scheduled either before or after each teams technical training sessions (See below).  Each training session will be limited to 20 athletes.

· Tuesdays:   06/07 Girls 5:30-6:30 (After technical training)

· Wednesdays: 06 boys, 07 boys 5:30-6:30 (After technical training)

· Fridays:   03, 04, 05 Girls: 4:30-5:30 (Before technical training)

04, 05 Boys: 5:30-6:30 (Before technical training

99/00, 02, 03 Boys: 6:30-7:30 (Before technical training)

· $100.00 / 6 weeks

Veteran strength and conditioning coach, Bill Laidlaw, will facilitate each strength and conditioning session. A native of Brockville, Ontario, Laidlaw has worked with professional and amateur athletes of all ages and sports for the past 22 years.  Prior to Capital Soccer, Bill served as strength and conditioning coach at Norwich University, St. Michael’s College and the University of Vermont. Currently, Bill coordinates the strength and conditioning programing for the Middlebury College women’s soccer team and he runs the “Solon Strength” program at Montpelier High School.

A 1990 graduate of Mercyhurst University, Laidlaw was on the men’s soccer team roster for 1 season. As a highly decorated Canadian oarsman, he also competed on the Mercyhurst University varsity lightweight rowing team for 4 years. A husband and father of 3 children, Bill is a special educator at Montpelier High School. He also is an NSCA-certified strength and conditioning specialist and a certified USA Weightlifting club coach.
